Produced using grades such as UNS S31803 and S32205, duplex tubing is a marriage of the best characteristics of ferritic and austenitic stainless steels. It provides double the strength of 300-series stainless steel with excellent resistance to chloride stress corrosion and is ideal for offshore and high-pressure applications. Produced according to ASTM A789 and A790 specifications, Duplex mechanical tubing provides outstanding formability, toughness, and dimensional stability in adverse mechanical and structural applications.
Duplex Steel Mechanical Tubing usually contains 22–23% Cr, 4.5–6.5% Ni, 3–3.5% Mo, and a balanced ferrite-austenite microstructure. Yield strength is 450–550 MPa, tensile strength up to 800 MPa, and elongation ~25–30%. The tubing provides high fatigue strength, good weldability, and outstanding pitting and crevice corrosion resistance. It retains mechanical properties in cryogenic and high-temperature conditions. Heat–treated or cold–formed tubing can be supplied for high-load structural or pressure-containing use, providing stability in cycling loading and harsh environment conditions.
