Stainless Steel 317 and 317L Welded Pipes are austenitic stainless steel containing around 18–20% chromium, 11–15% nickel, and 3–4% molybdenum. The 317L grade has a low carbon content, which enhances weldability and avoids carbide precipitation upon welding. These pipes have good mechanical properties such as tensile strength of 515 MPa, yield strength of 205 MPa, and elongation of approximately 40%. Their higher molybdenum content gives them excellent resistance to crevice corrosion and pitting, particularly in acidic, high–temperature, and chloride–containing environments, and hence they are well-suited for hostile service conditions.
