Alloy 20 contains ~32–38% Ni, 19–21% Cr, 2–3% Mo, 3–4% Cu, and ≤0.07% C. It has tensile strength of ~551 MPa, yield strength of ~241 MPa, and elongation of ~30–35%. It is resistant to stress corrosion cracking, crevice corrosion, and acid attack, especially in sulfuric and phosphoric acid. The alloy is readily weldable and fabricable with retained strength and stability at temperatures of up to 500°C. With good mechanical properties and corrosion resistance, Alloy 20 is an acceptable choice for harsh chemical and marine applications where stainless steel will not cut it.
