This high-purity alloy has outstanding formability, superior electrical and thermal conductivity, and outstanding corrosion resistance. With a typical tensile strength of 70–95 MPa and yield strength of 30–50 MPa, depending on temper, it has a comparatively low mechanical strength. It has an elongation of 20–40%. Although aluminium 1050 cannot be heated, it can be made stronger by cold working, which makes it appropriate for conductive and non-structural uses.
