SAE 1020 Tubing is a low-carbon steel alloy containing around 0.18–0.23% carbon and 0.30–0.60% manganese with a good combination of strength, ductility, and machinability. The tube has a tensile strength of approximately 420 MPa and a yield strength of about 350 MPa, plus exceptional formability and weldability. This renders it very suitable for cold-forming, bending, and welding operations. Its wear resistance, plus stable performance under pressure, makes SAE 1020 a good option for structural and mechanical engineering applications.
